[Free] Lavender Harvesting Experience 2025

“Take this scent home with you and bring summer home.”


Make your summer in Sapporo special with a limited-time lavender picking experience at Hitsujigaoka Observatory! You can pick as much as you like from the vibrantly blooming lavender fields and take home a summer memory along with the scent. It’s perfect for those who want to relax between sightseeing, or for families and couples to make memories together. It’s also easily accessible from central Sapporo, so you can easily experience “Hokkaido summer.” Why not refresh your mind and body while surrounded by the scent of lavender?

*The lavender harvesting experience is free, but there is an admission   fee to the observation deck.
Adults: 1,000 yen Elementary and middle school students: 500 yen Sapporo residents: 500 yen (free for elementary and middle school students who are Sapporo residents)

*Period: 7/4-7/16 10:00-15:00 (last admission 14:45)

The scent of Hokkaido, luxuriously picked with scissors.

At the Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory, 1,000 lavender plants are cultivated in a 1,200m2 field, and July is the best time to see them.

A lavender harvesting experience event will be held from July 4th (Friday) to July 16th (Wednesday).

(*This may change depending on the flowering situation.)

Harvesting scissors will be available for rental. Flower wrapping paper and lavender-colored rubber bands are also available for you to take home. Our friendly staff will provide you with detailed guidance.
